Here are remnants of the previous owners of earth; the dead, the gone. These photographs fascinate me endlessly, reaching beyond simple amusement and awe. I find them fascinating for two reasons. One is rather self-explanatory: their age. Ninety years of existence they’ve endured, they are old. Old and fully capable of enchantment. Second, and not quite as obvious, is the fact that they picture a small northern Swedish town: its people, places, occurances. More importantly, the town pictured is where my Swedish ancestors lived at the time, where my father was born and where I went every christmas as a child.

nice ship, but i think lots of people today would prefer the car..
lovely photos…
tracing ancestral roots brings you to such interesting places. i once found out that my great grandpa had lived in panama for over 20 years!
Gorgeous pictures – are the people in the pictures your family? Love the little girls and their self-posession.
Isn’t it funny how the simplicity of the black dresses with bibs reminds me immediately of your Charles Anastase!
Hi!♥
First of all I simply adore your blog! This is a very nice post. Sometimes I wish they could make children inspired outfits but for adults, like those pretty 19th cent. little miss aristocracy dresses you’re showing. Pretty, pretty, pretty!
Oh my, that ship makes me long for distant horizons and exotic adventures…
Ammu: No, not that I know of but all pictures are from a small town where my father and my grandmother, and previous generations, grew up. I think it’s evident that Charles must be quite influenced by the early 20th century! Understandably, the clothes then are fascinating viewed through modern eyes. There is a lot to reference.
Joanna: Hello! I’m pretty sure it is possibly to find ‘children’s clothes for adults with an antique touch’ so to speak, as this comes into style from time to time. Just look at Charles Anastase and coats from the 1960’s. Divine!
heleen: Me too, but then I always long for adventures.
